African-Influenced Folk
Hiram Ring was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa, where he was heavily influenced by the rich musical texture of the culture. However, it was only after returning to the US and living in Lancaster, PA, that he began writing and performing songs in local venues that garnered some response. His songs have a depth and soulful quality that connect with people of differing backgrounds, tapping into the lonely stranger in us all. With the understanding that context and geographical location are crucial to the development of meaning in music, and in order to reach out to a wider audience, Hiram formed Ring Records and partnered with Forgotten Genre Productions in early 2007 to produce and promote a rough EP out of Lancaster, called Go From Here. Hiram is following hot upon its heels with a full-length album in the works, planned for release in Spring 2008. Check out the scratch tracks under 'albums'.
